Located in Casco, Maine, Camp Arcadia is a residential summer camp for girls. 2010 will be our 95th Anniversary Year!

New experiences of happiness, friendship, growth and being at home in the out-of-doors – these are our goals for each of our 180 campers.  The Maine woods, lakes, and fields stimulate an interest in the natural world.  Living with others leads to abiding friendships and self-confidence.  Participating in our rich, full program encourages the development of individual abilities.

Since 1916 the same family has guided Arcadia.  Anne Henderson Fritts, Louise Henderson, and Louise Fritts Johnson currently represent the third and fourth generation of Directors. Anne's other children, Katherine, Jeanie and Frank, are also involved in various aspects of Arcadia.

The foundation of Arcadia is the belief that each girl should, with guidance, plan and carry out her own individual program and that she should attain proficiency in our Basic Activities - boating, campcraft, canoeing, and swimming.  Each camper and her parents choose her elective activities in the spring.  Activities are scheduled by interest and ability, rather than by age or lodge units.  Our usual daily program is interspersed with canoe and hiking trips as well as other special activities.

Some thoughts from our parents:

-"My daughter benefited from her time at Arcadia by being immersed in positive leadership models, friendships and the art of living with a group".
-"She was so proud to share with us all that she learned, did and accomplished."
-"She loves it! Every year it gets more and more fun for her!"
-"She grew so much in maturity and self-confidence."
-"She loved the simplicity of camp life and the sense of family and tradition".
