Opening Day from the viewpoint of a Point Camper

It was a bright sunny day. The birds were chirping. I walked into Camp and immediately reconnected with some of my best friends. I gave them hugs and had tears in my eyes. Then I heard the sound I knew best; the bell.

I walked up the hill with my friends by my side.

The smell of our traditional first meal, spaghetti and meatballs wafted across camp. I could almost taste the artisanal meatballs. I saw the counselors in the dining room and thought to myself; I am home.

After devouring the delicious meal including Liz’s amazing brownies, I walked to flag lowering. The sound of laughter and friends reuniting surrounded me. After a lovely night of music, laughter, loons and the new fire pits; I retired to my bed and fell fast asleep. I then woke up to the gentle chiming of the bell and began my summer.
