Our staff travels to Arcadia from all over the world, bringing diverse backgrounds and a commitment to helping children discover who they are and where their talents lie. Our staff have a love for and comfort in the out-of-doors and demonstrate respect and love of camping.

Our counselor-to-camper ratio is 1:3, and we have staff of all genders, from the US and overseas! The counselor staff’s primary role is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for our campers so they feel confident taking risks, developing independence and life skills, and have a fun and memorable summer! Below are some more things to know about our staff at Camp Arcadia:

  • The average age of a counselor is 22 years old

  • The majority of our staff are returning campers or counselors

  • All staff must demonstrate strong skills and experience in at least one of our activities

  • Experience working with and/or teaching children and relevant certifications required for certain positions. You will find staff with First Aid, CPR, Wilderness First Aid, American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, and more at Camp Arcadia!

  • Every potential staff member has an interview over video

  • We check references and ensure all staff pass a criminal background check annually, including social security number trace, county criminal search, and national sex offender search, prior to completing the hiring process

All counselors, new and returning, attend an experiential ten-day orientation period immediately before Camp each summer.  During Orientation, our leadership team and external camp professionals provide quality training to our staff on topics such as managing campers' routines and needs in their cabin and in their activities, how to co-create a fun and creative camp culture, safety drills and protocols, and how to develop and carry out the individual goals of each camper.
