Working at Summer Camp is more than a summer job. Working at Camp Arcadia is a time to make lifelong friends and gain invaluable experience in leadership, collaboration, perseverance, time management, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and teamwork. The Employee Experience
The Camp Arcadia staff come from all over the US and the world. Our staff are actively and enthusiastically involved in camp life teaching/working in their activity and participating in community life. We have a focus on health and wellness, environmental issues, global awareness and personal expression. Our staff is integral to the success and effectiveness of our program.

Our Goals
1. To build confidence and skills so that a girl may take her place in and contribute to her community.
2. To encourage risk taking through the exploration of new areas of learning and group living so a girl will have the confidence to face new situations and circumstances with strength.
3. To create a sensitivity to and awareness of the out of doors so a girl will respect and take care of living things and the environment.

4. To develop interpersonal skills, establish lasting friendships, respect and acceptance for others including but not limited to individuals of varying abilities, cultures, genders, races and religion.
Ideal Counselor
Camp Arcadia staff come from around the US and the globe and have a variety of different backgrounds, but they all have one thing in common, they all love working with children and helping girls reach their full potential.
Staff Members must have completed one year of college and be at least 19. Staff should have experience in their chosen activity, loves working with children, and comfortable being in the outdoors. A positive outlook, flexibility, and a sense of humor are essential.
Potential staff must complete an in-depth application, go through the interview process, and provide three quality references. All staff must pass a background check. Staff members must participate in a 10-day orientation prior to the arrival of campers.
Living at Camp
We provide room and board for the entire employment period. Our cabins are simple, yet comfortable with views of Pleasant Lake. Some of our cabins have electricity and some do not. Male counselors and live in shared cabins in our staff housing area. Laundry service is provided, or you can choose to use our coin-operated machines.

Location and Weather
We are located in Otisfield, Maine on Pleasant Lake. The quaint town of Casco, about a mile away, is where you will find a post office, convenience store, sandwich and ice cream shop, a library and a gym. Traveling about 20 - 30 minutes will take you to grocery stores, restaurants and shopping for essentials. The closest major city is Portland, about an hour away, is a fun place for shopping, dining, culture.

Staff Fun
Our staff lounge provides space to relax with your co-staff. The staff lounge has Wifi and a secure locker to charge your personal devices. Staff Recreation programs offer exciting events for staff bonding.
On days off our staff take advantage of the beauty and wonder of Maine. Often, they hike in the white mountains of Maine and New Hampshire, take a trip to Portland or Freeport, or enjoy a day at the beach. There are tons of lakes in the region for canoeing and kayaking. Hackers Hill provides an exceptional 360-view and is minutes from camp.
Additionally, to the free time that you enjoy during the day and your days off, you will have most evenings free.

Meals
The food at Arcadia is great! We eat most meals family style, one meal served at each table, some days we have meals in the great out of doors. Counselors sit at tables with a mixed age grouping of campers. There is also a fruit, oatmeal and yogurt bar at breakfast and a salad bar at lunch and dinner. Camp Arcadia offers gluten-free and vegetarian options.
